Ron Chase, Managing Editor and Co-Founder
Ron began his career in
radio in April, 1970 with KPUR-AM/Amarillo. In 1976, he launched crosstown
KQIZ-FM as "Z93," the market's first contemporary hit music outlet on the FM
band. He left in 1978 to become Managing Editor of the trade publication,
FRED magazine, published by Bob Hamilton and Buzz Bennett. In the early 80's,
Chase worked with Mitch Craig at the William B. Tanner company in Memphis,
before returning to radio programming that included a second stint at Z93.
In 1984, Ron and wife Lisa launched Supertraxx Production-Services, which
was best known for its syndicated IDs and Sweepers package "Digitizers" --
voiced by John Young, and then later Charlie Van Dyke. It was voiceover
talent, and the late Michigan programmer Jay J. McCrae (aka Jay Glass) who
suggested that Ron & Lisa acquire a modem for the company's computer system.
This move ultimately led to the creation of RADIO ONLINE.
Soon after installing a modem, Ron & Lisa became interested in Bulletin
Board Systems. Ron, studying under Samuel H. Smith, developed and wrote his
own BBS software and built the accompanying computer servers. In 1989, the
husband and wife duo utilized their BBS software, computers and industy
background to launch the RADIO ONLINE brand.
Today, Ron oversees the entire operations of the company as Managing
Editor/Partner. What little spare time he has is spent with Lisa, their cats
Indy & Raphael, and rooting for the Dallas Cowboys (since 1962). Ron, a native
Texan, is a Christian and a vegetarian (since 1984). If he could, he would
eat nothing but Mexican (Tex-Mex) food.
